Week Seventy-three

Yesterday was Mother’s Day. A day to celebrate and honour Mothers.

Yesterday, I made it a day of honouring all those who have mothered me. My own amazing Mum who was such a mentor and guide to me. But also all the other amazing women (and men) who have mothered me along the way. It amazes me the miracles and magic of people coming together to create family –  what we think of as “traditional” and “the norm” is not the case at all over the generations – there are many ways to make a family and just as many ways to “mother”.

Aunts, Uncles, Friends, Neighbours, My Husband, My Children, Nieces, Nephews, Acquaintances – Anyone who has spent time with me and helped me shape my opinions and guide my thoughts (sometimes graciously and sometimes with a kick in the a** if I needed it!) have all mothered me at some point.

And I realized that I am learning to Mother myself. We are all called to Mother ourselves. Some of us learn early how to do this and for others (like me) it takes a long time.

How will you Mother YOURself today and this week? I hope it is with a gentle ease and lots of love – and maybe a kick in the a** if you need it!

Watch the Magic and Love Unfold – look for it,
